SLE Recruitment now open
Are you or do you know an outstanding teacher who wants to share their expertise as an outstanding classroom practitioner or is thinking about their next steps in their career? If so, becoming a Specialist Leader of Education may be just the opportunity you are looking for!
Do you understand what outstanding teaching and learning looks like and are you skilled in mentoring, supporting and developing others to achieve it? If so, there is an opening for you to become a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE). SLEs are highly effective practitioners who have the skills and drive to support individuals and teams in other schools to develop capacity so that they have the skills to lead their own teams and improve practice in their own schools.
Why become an SLE?
As an SLE, you will receive:
- Excellent CPD opportunities
- Professional recognition and respect for your expertise with a nationally recognised accreditation
- Experience of a wide range of contrasting learning environments and challenges and the chance to have an impact across a wide range of schools
- Opportunities to facilitate training and work across the wider region as part of teaching schools collaboration
“The SLE role has been so rewarding. Not only have I helped to support others, see their teaching improve and their confidence grow, I have really widened my own experience and brought back so much to enhance my practice.” SLE designated 2016
Who can apply?
To become an SLE, you need to have been in a leadership role for at least 2 years. We welcome applicants from any type or phase of school - you don’t need to be in an outstanding school, a school that is part of a teaching school alliance, or an academy as long as your school has the capacity to release you to work in other schools for a pre-agreed amount of work. All areas of expertise are required but particularly English, Maths and Teaching and Learning.
